Floral waters: the natural solution for radiant skin!

Floral waters: the natural solution for radiant skin!

Floral waters, also known as hydrosols, are sweet and subtle aromatic liquids obtained from aromatic plants.

They have been used for centuries for their healing and cosmetic properties. Leaving a delicate, light fragrance on the skin, aromatic waters offer undeniable benefits for the face.

In this article, we will explore what floral water is, how it is produced, its health and beauty benefits, and how to use it.

Much gentler than essential oil and without specific contraindications, hydrosol is becoming an indispensable product in our bathrooms!

But how are floral waters produced?

Floral waters are produced by steam distillation of an ingredient (plants, for example). The aromatic plants are placed in a still, and steam is then passed through the plant to extract the aromatic compounds.

The mixture of vapor and aromatic compounds then passes into a cooler, where it condenses into two parts: essential oil and floral water.

Hydrosols do not contain essential oils and are generally suitable for a wider range of people, including pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children (from 3 months old). If you have any doubts, please consult your doctor.

The health and beauty benefits

Floral waters are used for their healing and cosmetic properties. Here are some examples of their health and beauty benefits:

Hydrosols offer numerous benefits and allow you to gently care for your skin:

Verbena floral water is appreciated by dull, dry, sensitive and mature skin seeking balance, protection and more radiance.

Rosemary floral water has a stimulating, toning, and purifying effect. It can be used to restore the skin's natural radiance. It is particularly beneficial for dull, combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin.

Cornflower floral water is a great ally for sensitive and demanding skin. It is valued for its ability to soothe overheated skin. It can also help reduce puffiness in cases of swollen eyelids.

The Belle Luce bonus: a distillation based on Aloe Vera

At Belle Luce, our floral waters are not just simple hydrosols. They are distilled from a base of organic Aloe Vera , a plant known for its moisturizing, soothing and repairing properties.

How to use floral waters properly?

Floral waters can easily be incorporated into any beauty routine. Here are the best ways to use them :

1. In the morning : wake up the skin

Spray generously onto clean skin, pat immediately with fingers or a soft cotton pad, then apply your serum or cream to seal in moisture.

2. In the evening : soothe and purify

Use it to remove the last traces of makeup or impurities, alone or in combination with a gentle oil (e.g., Calendula) on a cotton pad: a natural and soothing two-phase makeup remover .

3. In the bathwater

Add a few spoonfuls of mist to the bath water to transform this moment into an aromatic wellness ritual .

🚫 What you absolutely must not do: let it air dry!

If you let your mist evaporate without patting it or following it with a treatment , it can take your skin's natural water with it.
➡️ Result: dehydration, tightness, discomfort
💡 The right method: always apply your moisturizer (serum or cream) right after the mist, to seal in the moisture in the skin .
